Robots in the SKy..

So the ultimate showdown between good and bad robots kicks off today on the Big Screen.I wanna watch it but due to commitments to the greater evil, I am afraid this would not be possible at the moment. But no worries ,I can wait..

Anyways, it is an epic story that should not be missed. Heck even if the movie turns out to be less that satisfactory, it is the fact that almost every kid in the 1980's has heard about transformers would deem it spectacular already. So who will prevail.. the

Autobots-Good Or Decepticons-Bad

Long day, it gonna get even longer in the coming weeks...

It is doing it again...

Here we go,me being the grandfather that says the same thing over and over again. Why is the internet connection SO SLOW>>>>

Pages that are suppose to load in seconds take minutes, bugs occur regularly and many annoying things that aren't suppose to happen occur.

Arghh.

And it makes me wonder...

Now, I am sure you have heard in the past that the action of studying hard has never harmed anyone.Nothing could be further from the truth.Let me explain:

Have you ever wonder what the word Studying mean? To many of you, it means reading tons and tons of books and memorising facts. But if you take the word STUDYING and break it up it become STU /DYING=Student Dying

See I told you! I don't wanna be the first... :-)

This is what I heard

At a ground floor of a building waiting for the lift to arrive.

Girl 1: Hei so which team to you support?
Girl 2:Used to support Man United.
Girl 1:Really did you watched last night match?
(This happened before the EPL season ended)
Girl 2:Nahh, I lost interest when David Beckham left...
Girl 1: I think that yesterday's game was a bit slow the wasn't any action going on till the last quarter of the second half..
Girl 2:Maybe I should have watched the game..

To sum it up, this is the first time I have heard and seen this happen. It is equivalent to a couple of dudes discussing ballet.Rare if unheard off.

Wow..

Empire of the Sun..

  • Now you must be thinking have I heard about this movie let alone watched it.Yeah I thought the same thing too. When I was little,I had a faint memory of seeing this print in some catalogue. But I manage to catch the film on good old HBO.It's great that they are show movies that premiered when we were too young to comprehend what movies were all about.
  • Anyway, one of the things that I like about watching old movies is that you are able to catch actor and actresses in their early roles, before they became famous. In this case,we have John Malkovich and Miranda Richardson. But it is the child actors in this case a very young Ben Stiller and the main star of the film,Christian Bale which is known for his role in The Mechanist and most recently, Batman Begins that we should focus on.Back then he was just 13 and I would say among his peers and presently the most successful .Take for instances Haley Joel Osmond and Macaulay Culkin who had rather successful careers in their childhood days but are yet to make an impact in their adulthood film wise.
  • The film itself did pretty well and was nominated for 6 Oscars and won 3 British Academy awards.Of course, no prizes for guessing who directed this movie, yup Steven Spielberg. It is like the man was born to direct movies.
  • So to anyone reading this,I guess it is a good time to catch up on old movies that we missed out due to age.It can be pretty enjoyable.

For your information..

Now I know that some of you readers may be wondering what is all the fuss about the CLP.Allow me to enlighten you.

The CLP is known as the Certificate of Legal Practice. But to many of us, it is actually a Cumbersome Law Paper.(I can't agree more)

Due to the ridiculous workload and long hours we aren't the Caring Loving People that all of us future lawyers used to be.(It true, don't laugh)

Also as a results of all this we Cannot Live Properly and short term memory loss, severe personality change and temporary insanity is very much part of our lives.(Potential Tanjung Rambutan Resident)

It must be noted that the exams has registered Consistent Low Passes.(Not Surprising)

Thus this has resulted in many of us to Cari Lain Profession.(Ah long)

Haha.

But I think that we should work hard and try. Come Let's Persevere.

The oldest man in the world...

Can you actually believe it? The oldest people in the world are,not surprisingly the Japanese.According to this article-http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19291437/ ,the oldest man in the world would be Tomoji Tanabe age 111 and the oldest women would be Yone Minagawa age 114.Can you actually believe this, these people were born during the Togugawa era where there were still samurai's and Japan was just modernising itself.Must have a lot of memories.

According to researchers, the Japanese have one of the highest number of people living beyond 100 due to the diet of fish and vegetables. The man himself also gave additional information on how to stay young by keeping a dairy diet, drinking milk and swearing off alcohol and smoking.

Yeah no surprise there.Anyway, if I am gonna live to that age, what I am going to do is to open a fix deposit with a bank and choose the longest plan available.I might also wanna take a life insurance policy to for a really long period preferable indefinite. And I would certainty make a will which will never be used by my kids.

What does it feel like to live for a century?

The Shawshank Redemption

You know there are some movies that you can't seem to forget? I guess this would be one of them.Based on the novel by the author Stephen King, this was actually a book published in 1982.Strange enough, the author which is more well known for his scare stories rather than a fictions narration of a man that was unjustly accused of murder and was incarcerated in prison. There the story portrays a powerful message of hope, survival and of course, redemption.
The movie version was directed by Frank Darabont and stars Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It was sure memorable and up to today, I can still remember the details of the story.
Man Stephen King is good.

Happy Fathers Day

Yeah this is the day when we celebrate the other important person in our life. The man who does things for us,sometimes without getting much acknowledgement.Granted while fathers don't get much attention compared to mothers, that does not mean they are less important. We should remember them both.

So thanks dad, this is for you and to many other father day that follow.

“We never know the love of our parents for us till we have become parents.”

Eureka

Now I sure you are wondering what on earth is this? It is a rather new series that has premier in the US for a season now and the 2nd season would be premiering on 10.07.2007 in the US on the Sci Fi channel.(www.SciFi.com) It is basically a series that focuses on the daily lives of the townsfolk, think Gilmore Girls and Smallville, but unlike the previous 2, the show has a more balance approached towards it 's characters interaction rather then the usual relationships that you get on TV where there is a way bit more focus on the main characters.
I manage to catch a few episodes till recently and then I got busy. But I am planning to catch up with the series one way or another.Man like I used to say, those American can really think of ideas that will literally blow your mind. Why can we be more like them in terms of creativity?

Funny signs

Now I am sure that you people have seen funny signs that are unique or go way beyond explanation.Yup the ones that make you wonder how it got set up in the first place.Well yeah I have seen some that quite unique and are surely worth a second look.Like this

Or this

Heck it could even be this

Could it be an error on the sign maker or rather an attempt to inject humour into boringness of our everyday lives? If you ask me I say it is a mixture of both. And the results can be hilarious at times.

What funny signs have you encountered?

Sleep deprieved and mentally affected.

The inability of me to sleep has resulted in the me unable to be effective. It is like my mind purposely finds reasons not to allow me to sleep and it there isn't any, it just doesn't allow me to sleep anyway!!

I can't remember the last time I knocked off before 00.00.Oh wait I remember now, it was in high school.Back then I couldn't afford to be late and unless I wanted to play commando with the disipline masters and his EVIL minions/followers(prefects),sleep was a viable option.Besides, back then we didn't had ASTRO, Internet was at it infancy and there was LESS things to study!!

Anyway, the results of having lack of sleep would be the inability to remember and focusing on things, dozing off periodically, strategizing and pretty much doing everything a million times slower. Not to mention the a colossal challange to stay awake during Saturday service.

Yes, I should change my sleeping habits before it changes me..

The 50 Anniversary of FBC

So First Baptist Church is finally 50 years old. That's a long time.Heck I don't think most people reading this post have reached that age.Yup in the same year that we celebrated independence ,with God's blessing the founders of church established it from a small building which acted as a meeting place to a flourishing church of 1000+ people. The young, middle age and the elderly come regularly and on this night it was no exception.
So the night begun with the singing of hymns and this is where I sent out emergency SMSes in the hope that someone out there would rescue me.I mean after being exposed to Hillsongs and Planet shakers, I have no idea how I manage to stay awake during worship all this while. :P
With that came the main event which was dinner and there was a slide show of the church history from the past till the present .There was also performances by church members and Joanne Yeoh the famous violinist.Yeah it was good.
So then came the message and the cutting of the cake which marked the end of the event.Well as a whole it was a good event and that there was a lot of catching up and reunions between the old and the new members.
Yup, it was a good event. So I am hoping I will make it to the next 50th anniversary which will be held on 2057 making me 74 years old.Now that scary thought...

Pressure building up..

Now I am really feeling the tension in the air as the date approaches. Can I focus and keep a positive attitude and well as not lose focus? Can I safely say that everything is under control and that it will be all right in the end? While I was scrolling through my Msn list, one of the personal messages on one of my contact read:"Things will always go right in the end.If it is not going right for you, that mean it is not the end"

Yeah so maybe that got to be the attitude that I should adopt yeah.Do my part, trust in HIM and the future will sort itself out. Ultimately HE is in control I should remember that.

Prank calls..

Now I am sure that when you people were young, you have or at least attempted to make prank phone calls.C'mon I talking to you reading this post.999 calls, calls to the pizza delivery company(before they had trace systems), calls to the taxi service and so on.

Being the good boy that I was, I could not imagine doing something like that. :p
Anyway ,I just so happen that to notice that these days, kids aren't really into making prank calls.I could be wrong but that not what my younger cousins are doing. They are more interested in playing video games and watching satellite TV.

So anyway,do you guys have any memorable prank calls that you have placed or heard?I read one and it sounds like this:

Caller:Hello
Recipient:Hello
Caller:Is your fridge running?
Recipient:Yes,who is this?
Caller:It doesn't matter better go and catch it before it runs away...

;p

!!doink!!
Anyway, to you kids out there reading this, DO NOT TRY OR EVEN THINK OF PLACING PRANK CALLS. It is annoying, wrong and totally outdated it being a 20th century practice.Right gtg.Gonna leave you with a prank calls by the kid who never grew up, no not the one which flies around but the one in a dysfunctional family. You got to turn up the volume a bit in the beginning, cause it is a wee bit hard to hear. Thanks

5 month already...

Wow it has been 5 months since I stop working and went back to classes. Man time sure flies.I can still remember the beginning of the year and now and already half of the year has gone by.

Now I am sure that most of you people feel that as we get older time passes a lot quicker. It feels like someone increased the speed of the treadmill that I am running on.I have theories on why.It could be that as we get older there are more things to do,more people to communicate with, more planning and so on.So basically there is a whole lot more things to do in a day compared to the younger days.

So as such, one should value time more and make the best of it. Dang I am sounding like a Confucius philosopher.

Airborne...

Check this out

Feels so weird...

Half of the church was empty today.Actually close to 3/4 of the congregation was missing. Most of them were at Emerge Singapore 2007, an annual youth conference held and organised by City Harvest Church, Singapore. www.chc.org.sg. I swore the first thing that came to mind when I saw the rows of empty seats and the leftover people in the congregation was I was one of the survivors of a Zombie rampage that significantly reduced the population of of church was too drastically. On the other hand, this could be the work of overzealous and hardworking aliens in abducting(sorry relocating) us to someplace else. Here is a tip you alien scum ,try China and India,I hear that they have a problem with their population.

Ahem.. Anyway, Keith preached and most people agree that today's message was good.He preached about mistakes and what are it's possible causes notably out of fear and worry, ignorance and fault, laziness, lack of self control and wrong value system.

He also preached about 4 reasons to celebrate mistakes which would be:
1) Noticing mistakes shows our commitment to quality.
2)Mistakes make powerful teachers.
3)Mistakes get our attention.
4)Permitting mistakes allows us to take risks.

Those who cannot remember the past are doomed to repeat it.-George Santayana.
Man this quote is soo true. The past repeats itself.

Well I am hoping to hear more of Keith preaching in the near future.Keep up the good work.
